Redefining "Muslim Tech"
A brief web search with the keyword "Muslim Tech" brings up many apps and gadgets focused on enhancing ritualistic worship – Quran memorization apps, Salah reminders, prayer timings at the local Masjid. However, we take it to mean something else entirely.
Muslim Tech is to empower the Ummah, and to empower humanity at large. No more depending on handouts from international organizations. We aim for Essential Needs Sovereignty, where individuals and families can empower themselves with solutions with minimal reliance on others.
We live in a unique juncture in history, where knowledge is widespread via the internet, and development of technologies such as 3D printing and Artificial Intelligence allow for decentralized innovation with even limited resources.
Our Strategy
Micro-Level Empowerment
Focusing on micro-level empowerment – believing that sustainable capacity building begins from the ground up. By strengthening the individual, we aim to reduce dependency on foreign aid and unreliable centralized systems.
Resource Hub
Serving as an institutional memory and resource hub — identifying existing solutions from both academia and industry, and working to adapt proven technologies to the contexts where they're needed most.
Community Teams
Creating small teams focused on disciplines of humanitarian tech – from food technology to waste management – focusing on projects that can be recreated with small teams and transferring knowledge where it's needed most.
